Photography Workshop
Beginner Level
Welcome to the beginner level photography class! In this course, you'll learn the basics of photography, including the technical aspects of taking photos and how to create visually compelling images.
Mission
Camera Basics:
Before diving into the technicalities, we will learn about and understand the different types of cameras available in the market. The most common types are DSLRs, mirrorless cameras, point-and-shoot cameras, and smartphones.
DSLRs and mirrorless cameras are interchangeable lens cameras that offer more control over the settings and allow for higher quality images. Point-and-shoot cameras are smaller and simpler, but still provide a range of settings to experiment with. Smartphones are the most convenient option, as they are always with you and offer a range of built-in camera features.
Vision
We will cover Exposure, Aperture and ISO by practicing in studio and outdoors.
Exposure is the amount of light that enters the camera and affects the brightness and clarity of the image. There are three settings that control exposure: aperture, shutter speed, and ISO.
Aperture is the opening in the lens that controls how much light enters the camera. A lower aperture number (e.g. f/2.8) will create a shallower depth of field, while a higher aperture number (e.g. f/16) will create a deeper depth of field.
Shutter speed is the amount of time that the camera's shutter is open. A faster shutter speed (e.g. 1/1000) will freeze motion, while a slower shutter speed (e.g. 1/30) will create motion blur.
ISO is the camera's sensitivity to light. A higher ISO number (e.g. 1600) will allow for shooting in low light, but may introduce noise or grain into the image.
